Privacy Policy

Effective: November 2, 2026

Chess Coach is a chess learning app for adults and for children learning with a grown-up. It has no accounts, and we don't ask for your name, email or any other personal details. This page explains the little data the app does use.

What stays on your device

• Your progress: lessons, puzzles, rating, games against Coach Mira, streaks and settings are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to us.
• Daily reminder: if you turn it on, the reminder is scheduled on your device as a local notification. No server sends it.
• Lessons, puzzles and opening statistics are built into the app and work offline.

Anonymous usage and crash data

To learn which lessons help and to fix problems, the app uses two Google services:

• Firebase Analytics receives usage events, such as which screens are opened, lessons and puzzles completed, and games played, together with a random app-instance identifier, your device model and operating system, the app language, and an approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address.
• Firebase Crashlytics receives crash reports and error details, with the device model and operating system, so we can fix bugs.

This data is not linked to your identity. We do not collect your device's advertising identifier, ad personalization is turned off, and the app does not track you across other apps or websites. The app contains no advertising.

Google processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy and the Firebase privacy terms. Analytics data is kept for at most 14 months and crash reports for 90 days.

Children

Chess Coach has a mode for children aged 6–12, intended to be set up by a parent or carer. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. The anonymous usage and crash data described above is the same for every user and contains no names, contact details or advertising identifiers.

Deleting your data

• Progress: use Settings → Start over in the app, or uninstall the app. Either removes everything stored on your device.
• Usage data: uninstalling the app resets its random identifier, so new data can't be connected to the old. To ask us to delete analytics data already collected, email support@mychesscoach.app with the subject "Data Deletion Request". We'll act on it within 30 days.
